The PC Gaming Alliance suffered a bit of a blow today, with one of their founding members opting to pull out. And unfortunately for the non-profit organization, it was one of the biggest as well.
According to PCGA representatives (via Kotaku), "A few members have decided they cannot justify the budget (membership and staff) required to maintain an active role in the PC Gaming Alliance at this time."

One of those few members would appear to be Activision, as their logo no longer appears on the PCGA website.

The PCGA was announced at last year's Game Developers Conference, promising to bring together several developers to advocate for PC gaming. Among other things, they wanted to set new minimum requirement standards, agree on methods to combat piracy and develop new business models.

While Epic, Microsoft and Capcom are still part of the alliance, the loss of Activision also means losing the clout of the publisher that controlled PC gaming's biggest franchises -- World of WarCraft. The PC Gaming Alliance isn't alone either, as Activision left the Entertainment Software Association last year.

Hard to say whether there will be any long term repurcussions in this move, but Activision has definitely taken on a bit of an isolationist as they've continued to grow. We'll see how well that'll serve them going forward.
