Yes. Welsh is the equivalence of an english course here in the united states. It is a standard course provides an extended literature through the medium of welsh.
From my understanding, because I am in the United States and have never experienced a Welsh class, Welsh is an English class. I do not know whether or not it is a literature/language composition class where you focus on writing or if its a verbal course where you focus on speaking it.
If it is a writing composition class then I suggest you become more acquainted to books. Yes I know that this may sound boring, but it will help. Reading books will allow you to focus on the english course rather than your friends and should result in a major improvement.
Dont complain, I know what youre already thinking: Books are lame. Well I suppose you can say that, but you should select literature that is of your interest and something that is appropriate for the course. The more interesting in context, the more your mind will be focused on the book.
If the class is a verbal course then I suggest you practice reading the words from welsh literature aloud but not in an obnoxious way. Being obnoxious will completely disprove this entire post. An alternative method to reading out loud is reading out loud in your head.
Reading words aloud in your head may seem silly, but everyone does it in an innate/passive manner. If you read words aloud in your head you will increase your coherence and understanding.
Hope this helps.
