Deadline is reporting that ABC has picked up producer Simon Vaughn's (Coco Chanel) four-hour Titanic miniseries.
The internationally produced project, based on the voyage and sinking of the famous passenger steamship, is written by Oscar-winner Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park, Downton Abbey) and will air on TV coinciding with the centenary of the ship's sinking next year (April 10th, 2012). The miniseries will start filming in Hungary in the spring.

"Um...line."
This wouldn't be the first Titanic miniseries of course. CBS aired one in 1996 starring Peter Gallagher, George C. Scott and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It was one of those deals where they rushed to get it out on TV before James Cameron's film was released in order to cash in on the Titano-hype.
I wonder what would happen if it didn't crash. What would the movie be like? Would there be a movie? Would we still get to see the naked chick? My brain hurts.
