I was thinking to myself, why was I brought up to think that Marijuana was only used by criminals, rapist & crazy people? For a long time this is what i was taught.. to be afrade and away from smoking weed. If i smoke it, i will end up jobless and dirty & in need for a tooth brush. Why would i think this? I am a parent of two beautiful, healthy, smart boys & i have been smoking weed for 8 years. How can this be? This is not what i was taught.. In fact it's the complete opposite. I'm happy, healthy & i have a tooth brush Smile

My question is when my boys are old enough to learn about drugs, can i rely on the public school systems to give my boys the right information. So i looked at the D.A.R.E website. D.A.R.E is the program that would come to our school (normally an officer with a gun) and teach us the dangers of drugs. I remember i was in 5th grade, an officer came to our school to talk to us about WEEEEEEED. He asked the question "How do i know it's weed" Well, it's got a pretty distinct smell, DER. Some kid spoke up "I know what it smells like." The office snarled at him for it, like he was some sort of criminal. The kid was embarrassed & i'm sure that kid has ended up smoking 7 gram rocks- Thanks to office asshole.

Description
Marijuana is a green or gray mixture of dried, shredded flowers and leaves of the hemp plant Cannabis sativa.

Use
It can be eaten in certain foods or smoked. Marijuana is usually smoked in the form of loosely rolled cigarettes called "joints" or hollowed out commercial cigars called "blunts."

Dangers and Effects
Smoking marijuana may impair short-term memory while people are using the drug. This happens because all forms of marijuana contain THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), the main active chemical in marijuana, which alters the way the brain works.

Pause: "Smoking marijuana may impair short-term memory while people are using the drug."

More like- "Where did i put the PS controller.. Ugh.. God.. FFFFUUU... oh ... wait..... AH HA YOU BASTARD HERE YOU ARE!"

Pause: DRUG

Wtf? Drug? That's not a drug, it just GROWS like that.

Lets keep going.

Question: Don’t you think doctors ought to be able to prescribe anything they want for their patients?

Response: Marijuana is not prescribable. It is an illicit drug that has failed to meet any of the FDA criteria for therapeutic drugs. Further, when it comes to pharmaceutical drugs that are controlled substances, doctors may not prescribe them in any manner they please, and pill mill doctors who have been caught handing out unwarranted prescriptions for these substances are often arrested and serve jail time-as has happened in the past with Valium and more recently OxyContin.

My response to your response- Sure lets now talk about the dirty side of the story. Jail time (insert sound of closing doors here)
Are we talking about Marijuana or the twisted people we like to call HUMANS? No matter the situation you're always going to have that rotten egg-regardless if "drugs" are involved. Let our kids know the hard facts instead of scaring them with the thought of hard jail time.

P.s. Can i get the number to this doctor, i could use some Oxys.

Question: But they’re asking for marijuana for terminally ill patients. Don’t you think these patients deserve to be relieved from their suffering?

Response: First, though the media continues to claim that marijuana would only be used by terminally ill patients, the fact is that all of the initiatives passed to date have been much more broad based than that, and, in fact, an Oregon physician who had written more than 60 percent of all the marijuana recommendations in that state had not examined the patients and had not seen their medical records. He had even given a recommendation to a 14-year-old child for a minor ailment. Further, few of the individuals who received the “recommendations” had “terminal” medical conditions.

Question: But if someone is terminal?

Response: Even the IOM report acknowledged that there are excellent pharmaceutical medications already available to treat every malady mentioned by those who seek to smoke marijuana.

Question: So are you saying that marijuana has no medical properties?

Response: Having medical properties is not the same thing as being safe and effective for medical use. Marijuana has 483 compounds, 66 of which are cannabinoids. Several of the cannabinoids have already been developed into FDA approved medications. But these medications are not marijuana. They are pharmaceutical drugs, which can be carefully titrated to the patient's needs.

I don't feel like our public school system is the problem, its the helicopter parents that feed kids stupid shit without thinking about the implications of what they're saying

I SPEAK MY MIND!
I don't think their is anything wrong with weed personally, but I suppose it's just other peoples interpretations of weed and parents not liking their kids doing drugs. People who smoke weed are also like you said stero-typed as criminals, but it's not always the case. :420: :420: :420:

Like jail time?

8 years of smoking weed...tell me why i've never even been arrested. With the right info, so many different doors are opened. The chance to make your own decision is arousing Smile

the stuff
League Champion
I've taken a Human Development course for a semester and our professor even admitted theres such a small risk of any prenatal abnormalities for marijuana. In fact it's not even considered a teratogen unlike alcohol, cocaine, caffeine, heroin, etc. A can of tuna can contain trace amounts of mercury that can lead to some brain damage and malformation of the organs.

When my son is old enough to understand the facts of MJ- given the laws at the time... i would smoke it with him if thats what he wanted. As long as he's at home & i know where he is.. if he wants to smoke it he will with or without me.
