Anonymous, the group of hackers who are currently targeting sites like playstation.com with DDOSing attacks, has just posted the demands that must be met before they will stop attacking Sony-held sites.

The demands are as follows:

1. Sony must allow for end-user modification of the PS3, as was available prior to the 3.21 firmware update.

2. Sony must end any attempts to bring legal action to alter a product they own.

3. Sony must not pursue legal action against any collected IP address.

Do you think Sony will do as they ask?

Sony's never going to meet the demands of hackers, by making their console easier to hack... Also to bring legal action to all the people that visited Geohots site would give them so much bad PR, that would be plain st00pid.

sony wont do it
Mainly because if they do it will show a sign of weakness
so basically if they say yes they are saying hackers can walk all over them...

Sony = Multi-billion dollar company that has all the they could ever
Anonymous = Bunch of shithead hackers that think they can actually accomplish somthing by attacking sony.

This is going to do nothing to sony. I really havn't followed this at all seeing as i don't have a Ps3 and I don't hack. But the only bad PR this will bring is from the hackers, which really is only a small portion of the players. It really wont hurt sonys stock, if anything it'll help it sense it will stop the pirating of games.

Inb4 Anonymous gets butt****ed by Sony

Still allowing the first demand will make piracy:pirate: so much easier. Game sales would drop and that would either discourage Game developers from developing games on the PS3 or Cause the price of a PS3 game to rise. I know I was pretty PO'ed when the price of the average new game went from 50-60 dollars, and raising prices would simply turn more people to the dark side... I think taking this loss now will be better in the long run.

Sony will find a way to stop it eventually. Like i said, multi-billion dollar company. They will get better security. It really shouldn't be that hard for sony to find out who the hackers are from everything they've done. Once they due sony could sue them, could take them to court and sue them/put them in jail for x years. DDOS'ing a site aint legal =D

If sony agreed, what message would that send out? Of course they won't accept, if anything this will make them go after the hackers harder :/
