(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); This isn't a rumor, it is the real thing, what do you think of all this?

US-based gaming accessories manufacturer Hyperkin is currently working on a handheld version of Nintendo's Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Called the "Supaboy," it will be fully functional, feature a built-in 3.5-inch LCD screen, and support the original SNES cartridges when it supposedly launches here in the States sometime this summer.

While the company hasn't released anything official, CVG reports that the device will weigh around 11.2-ounces and feature a rechargeable battery offering just over five hours off a single charge. There's also an A/V jack for connecting the handheld to any TV with RCA jacks, and even two ports mounted on the front for connecting classic SNES controllers.

As expected, Supaboy sports an SNES controller form factor-- even the D-Pad, action buttons and shoulder buttons mirror their classic counterpart locations. The backside plays host to the battery compartment and also what looks to be a switch for locking the SNES cartridge into place. Still, given that the device is only in the prototype stage at this point, features can be added, removed, and rearranged by the time the final product ships.

At the time of this writing, pricing and actual availability is unknown. There's also no indication if Supaboy will be a US-only product, or if Hyperkin plans to release a PAL version.

Only one word can describe this: Awesome. Assuming its not priced to expensive, I might pick one of these things up. I personally hate the new generations of mobile gaming, its all getting too complex. Mobile gaming was at its best when everything was simple.
