Lately, there has been an increase in members wanting me, and others, to -rep them so they can acquire a -rep star. These members try to achieve a -rep star in the following ways:

  • They ask for it.
  • They -rep people whom they know will complain about it.
  • They insult as many members as possible until infracted.
  • They post completely useless posts (all the time).

These members usually target members who are very popular, or who have very high rep. They usually do this because a red star looks awesome and it is so much easier to achieve than any other star. What they do not know are the negative effects of having a -rep star.
Here are the negative effects of having a -rep star:

  • A -rep star automatically makes you a target to any troll on ngu.
  • A -rep star automatically makes you look untrustworthy which is very important in the auctions section.
  • A -rep star also makes you look like a scammer.
  • A -rep star makes people not believe anything you say.
  • A -rep star makes it seem as if every post is a troll post.
  • A -rep star automatically makes everyone hate you.
  • A -rep star makes your posts seem harsher than they are, resulting in infractions, and ultimately resulting in a permanent ban.
  • A -rep star is for losers!

Currently, there are three members with a -rep star. Two of the three are currently banned. They all have under 700 posts. There are four other members close to achieving this -rep star. Of these four, one is currently banned. They all have under 300 posts.

In conclusion, a -rep star is a bad thing to have. It may be easy to get one, but it is not worth it. The -rep star was created to shame people who receive -rep. Even though our rep system is extremely abused, it is impossible for someone to get a -rep star without trying to get one.

Don't get a -rep star No.

You are only allowed to give 5 thanks every 24 hours. There are also other rules like you can't thank a thread older than so many days and so on...
