What I want to know is why did they decommission the Blackbird, or just why hasn't the technology been used on any other jet? Like a plane that can go Mach 3+. Why not implement that with agility on a new jet? I don't get it. If they made that in the 1960's how is that speed not on every jet 50ish+ years later?
The SR-71 Blackbird was just user for surveilance. It went 3 times faster than the speed of sound (about 2700 mph). Today we have UAV's for surveilance. And our fighter jets wouldnt need to go that fast, or else we would miss our target. Such as the F-22 Raptor goes 1x Speed of sound. around 900 mph. which is good enough so we would not miss our target. Newest in Fighters is the F-35. =D
