. Yes rep was nice, but due to the complications, complaining and bitching people do over a simple NUMBER on the internet it has been turned off, at least now maybe we can get back to what NGU is known for, Glitches, hacks and exploits, and not "who has a higher rep than someone else".It may get turned back on, it may not, it all depends on wither people can stop abusing rep and use it how its suppose to be used.
Thanks, Groans and Likes are still there.
Anyway I know I will be hated and branded a 'Shit admin' but EVERYONE premium and non-premium alike (including staff) have done or will abuse rep and thus only pushed this decision.
Also the rep currently gained is still there so no, if we do turn it back on you will NOT have been reset.

I do believe that reputation had a place here. It did help members to be recognized as contributors, and could act as a motivator.
It was also severely abused in 2 ways over the last 6 months.
It was boosted in the Shout Box all the time, where 10 to 50 people could see your mention of needing rep and could respond in PM and the linking would begin. Moderators saw this happen all of the time, If they did not want to take a stand and make that fight, they could have disabled SBPMs to stop it.
The other big issue was Neg rep abuse. It was generally practiced by some of the larger rep members and became much too personal in my opinion.
I always felt that no one should be able to inflict more than 10% of their rep power in a neg hit. And frankly think that it should be limited to a groan hit of 3 to 5 points. A BAD post or thread can be hit by many members to punish the person, instead of personal attacks that caused retribution and resentment.
I sincerely hope that the rep system will be brought back with some modifications ( as was voted on by the general membership 2 weeks ago).
I believe if a wall could be created on each members profile that showed everyone else WHO THEY HAD SENT REP TO. It would allow the rest of the membership to help monitor who is boosting.
I do not believe enough time was given to the changes that had been made to the rep system and the 200 limit and 100 neg limit may have had some success. I would have disabled the neg rep portion and made groans a neg hit of 3. Let a majority of votes effect someones neg rep count..
Either way, after the dust settles and the site management evaluates the impact of its decision, I hope they will seriously consider further modifications to the system and reinstate it at the values they were at.
Clearly state what behaviors will be tolerated and what the consequences will be for future rep abuse.
I do like the fact that no neg rep now means no fear of speaking your mind openly, and allowing members to groan at a neg 3 hit should keep down the idiot or abusive posts when everyone agrees it deserves it.
There was too much of a carrot / stick rep mentality over the last year. Large rep power(carrrot) got everyone adding to it and a big stick kept too many from disagreeing with them.
I liked the cap, Everyone has the same size E-dick once they reach puberty. And take away the bullying. Let the community punish bad behavior...

Seriously though, it feels kinda weird looking over at my profile now without my rep stars being there. It's almost as if my rep countered my low post count :confused:
But I guess rep being removed for now is for the best. I just hope trolls won't think there won't be consequences for trolling/flaming. And I hope members will still continue to contribute without expecting something (like rep) in return.
