(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Here are a couple paragraphs from an Article on Brett Farve being Vick's backup QB:

There seems to be a growing notion around Philadelphia that Brett Favre would make for a good backup to Michael Vick in 2011. This, of course, would be only if the Philadelphia Eagles trade Kevin Kolb as expected once the lockout is over.

I understand why this idea might be growing on some folks. Andy Reid was the old man's QB coach in Green Bay for a few years, and Farve knows the West Coast offense like no other (he and Bill Walsh chiseled diagrams on their cave wall).

Once Kolb is gone, the Eagles will be in need of a veteran backup for a year while Mike Kafka gets more time to develop into a decent No. 2 option. Adding Favre does make sense in this regard.

If he is, in fact, itching to return for yet another season of football, I'm sure he will only be considered for a backup position on any team—with his age and banged-up body, that would be all he can handle.

Would you want Brett Favre as Vick's back-up?

Favre's injuries from last year are believed to be healed, although that is just an assumption on my part. The past two years, he has dealt with ankle and shoulder injuries as well as suffering a concussion towards the end of last season.

Funny thing is that John Clayton was going to announce this as simply a rumor. That's all it is. Do I think it's possible? No. He endured a beating last year, why would he want to be a co-pilot for yet another team?

That's all everything is until it indeed happens. He received a beating the year before and still returned last year, so that pretty much gets rid of the reason being he got beaten down last year.

Yeah he is "retired", much like he has been the past 4 years during the offseason.

The fact of the matter is this makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Eagles will need a QB to back up Vick, because barring a miracle Vick will get hurt this season. For a team that has SB aspirations and has said multiple times this off-season they will be going all out once FA starts up, they aren't going to go into the season without a solid back up. It works for Brett Favre because he NO doubt has that itch to return to the field, however, I think he is very aware that at this stage of his career his body can not handle the beating that comes along with the 16 game season. As I stated before, it is highly likely Vick gets hurt at some point this season, which would allow Brett to come in and show he can still do it for time. Not to mention the fact he has probably never played with the kind of firepower the Eagles have on offense in his career. Add that with the fact Brett is a master of the WCO and Andy Reid and him know each other well from both their time in GB. This makes far too much sense, probably too much so.

Brett Favre hasn't come out and said he wouldn't be interested in doing so. The Eagles have said they don't have interest. Then again, you know, the Eagles also said McNabb wouldn't get traded, when Kolb returned from his concussion he would retain the starting QB job, and McDermot wouldn't be getting fired.

Anyway, the Eagles aren't going to give Favre a lot to be the back up, so he is going to have to swallow his pride and take a considerable paycut from what he earned last year with the Vikes. If he does so, I see Favre in midnight green in the distant future.
