So Much Win.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); If you wanted to count the number of times video games have been blamed for tragedies, you would need the fingers of yourself, your immediate family, your neighbors and Jack Thomsom. More recently, the man behind the Norway massacre, Anders Behring Breivik, revealed to have used MW2 a World Of Warcraft as both training aids and an excuse to isolate himself while he was planning the massacre. Well, a clinical psychologist at Texas A&M has not only spoken out against the blaming of violent video games, but goes to far to say that it reaches the point of racism. The psychologist, Christopher Ferguson, spoke with Forbes on the matter recently:

''I know it’s a little controversial to say, but there’s a certain type of racism
in place with these killings. When shootings happen in an inner city
in minority-populated schools, video games are never brought up. But when these
things happen in white majority schools and in the suburbs, people start to
freak out and video games are inevitably blamed. I think that there’s a certain
element of racism or ignorance here.”
“Scientifically, the idea that video game violence, movie, or television
violence contributes to mass homicides is pretty much a debunked idea that has
no real basis to it. I think certainly the Supreme Court case helped, especially since they were so clear
in pointing out that current research was not able to support that line of
reasoning.”

Now tell your thoughts...

I do not see how he can claim racism on this issue?
To say that no one complains when it happens in an urban area is a little racist.
Prejudiced would be a better word, I think, I just don't see how it has anything to do with skin color...

Well written thread .JiampyPotter :y:

I'm with you there, yes Prejudiced is the word for that. He mixed the skin color with games but in a interesting way.

He's saying that, when there is something that affects white people majorly, then it is blamed on video games. however when its only a few black people, then its no longer blamed on video games? i get what he's saying, its an interesting point.

hes not saying that actually blaming it on video games is racist, hes saying What we blame on video games is racist?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he had a political agenda, what the flying **** has that got to do with call of duty? So he played video games in his spare time. Hitler collected art in his spare time, does that make everyone who collects art a lunatic? Of course it doesn't. People make these claims against video games without any solid scientific evidence. If someone made claims like this against almost any other kind of product, they'd be sued for everything they have.

Hitleroriginally tried to be an artist thaats why he collected art, i highly doubt terrorists wantedd to be game developers.

The point still stands though, it doesn't matter what they do in there spare time. There's got to be something wrong with you to be that crazy in the first place. The Hitler example way probably a bad one.
