2 problems with that statement;
1) This attitude allows young folk to get peer-pressured into smoking, which obviously will only be harmful to them as an addiction throughout the rest of their lives.
&
2) Smoking (cigarettes) does affect others- second hand smoke!

Second-hand smoke can cause harm in many ways. In the United States alone, each year it is responsible for:

  • An estimated 46,000 deaths from heart disease in people who are currently non-smokers
  • About 3,400 lung cancer deaths as a result of breathing secondhand smoke
  • Other breathing problems in non-smokers, including coughing, mucus, chest discomfort, and reduced lung function
  • 50,000 to 300,000 lung infections (such as pneumonia and bronchitis) in children younger than 18 months of age, which result in 7,500 to 15,000 hospitalizations annually
  • Increases in the number and severity of asthma attacks in about 200,000 to 1 million children who have asthma
  • More than 750,000 middle ear infections in children
  • Pregnant women exposed to secondhand smoke are also at increased risk of having low birth- weight babies.

Now don't tell me that it shouldn't be frowned upon.

I didn't intend for it to be interpreted that way. I stated that it was definitely bad but when it ultimately comes down to your own decision, not through the pressure of others, people should respect that decision. They don't have to agree with it but people are entitled to make their own decisions. Also I know about second hand smoke and that's why I said "as long as it doesn't affect others". Also I voted yes it is bad

Whilst everyone agrees its bad for you, I'd also like to point out the Monetary damages it does. Smoking is a seriously expensive addiction that has absolutely no benefits that can't be gotten from another cheaper, and safer product.

I don't care what anyone says, smoking is ****ing bad for you and it makes me sad that people start smoking to look cool.

If someone has that much power over that they can make you start smoke then you need help. Stop pleasing others if what you are doing is hurting you.

Links have been made to other illnesses have been shown to be caused as well like gynecomastia ect. Life is too precious to waste smoking something that kills you. Each day is brand new enjoy its beauty the way it was intended. Don't do weed.

People base their lives off of religion, sports, music, and basically everything that we know to exist and can easily acknowledge on a day-to-day basis.

If marijuana is the "devil's drug", then this whole word is a creation of Satan. (I say this figuratively, seeing as I don't necessarily believe in hell.) Marijuana itself is a completely natural thing. For Christ's sake, it's a plant.

Also, everything that exists is related to some kind of illness. I think it's pointless to single out a certain thing just because you don't associate yourself with it.

Not to mention people WITH illnesses smoke marijuana to cope with them, including those with schizophrenia.
