The legalization of marijuana could bring in more than 700 billion tax dollars a year. Billions of dollars would be saved with less people in prisons for minor drug offences.
I don't understand why it's illegal. If a person wants marijuana, let them have. I don't see why not. If something happens to them, then they get no one else to blame but themselves.

Because internet petitions have worked so many times before...
I completely agree that it should be legal, but the government is just too scared and they don't want to look like fools. It's going to take one hell of an argument to get it legalized.

I think 20,000 signatures in less than 2 days might convince them. We still have 28 more days. Imagine how many signatures we'll have by then. Not to mention this is on the official white house website.

All they'll think is "Wow, there's a lot more pot heads then we thought" and start laughing. Then they'll just forget about as it's no real threat. What's more threatening. Someone saying "I'm going to kill you" on the internet, or someone saying that to while you're face to face? If people want to make a change, they have to be more of a threat. They need to protest, and I mean big protests. Non of those silly little ones where 100 people gather outside. I'm talking thousands of people. The only trouble with that is... well it's hard to get that many people to do it over something you could get without much work anyway.
