Glad to find someone who's properly got a good ear for quality sound. If you want some top of the range cans look for Grados, open back and the stiling makes them look like they would have been cool about fifty years ago but the sound quality is amazing, or look for Audio Technica, Sennheiser etc.
Tbh with you, you shouldn't need an amp as long as the phones are good enough, providing you really can't tell the difference, which I'm sure I couldn't lol.
Quality pair of phones will set you back like £100- £300 +
