(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I got trolled into buying some Bose headphones and now I want to get something better I've been looking at the AKG K 701's but sources tell me you need an amplifier to go with them to make the most out of them, are there any audiophiles on this site that would be able to point me in the right direction or perhaps suggest a better pair of headphones.

I would buy some Sennihiser headphones but I don't feel like spending over a £1000 on them so yer any audiophiles here able to recommend a good amp only one I've been looking at so far is the FiiO E7 (You must login or register to view this content.) but I have no clue about amps.

Glad to find someone who's properly got a good ear for quality sound. If you want some top of the range cans look for Grados, open back and the stiling makes them look like they would have been cool about fifty years ago but the sound quality is amazing, or look for Audio Technica, Sennheiser etc.

Tbh with you, you shouldn't need an amp as long as the phones are good enough, providing you really can't tell the difference, which I'm sure I couldn't lol.

Quality pair of phones will set you back like £100- £300 +
