You just have to be completely prepared before you attack. There's a reason why the Russian's aren't freezing to death; they are prepared for the cold.Anyways,
Considering the alliances that Russia has and the alliances that the USA has, the US would probably win. However, this depends on many factors such as who is attacking who, who is prepared the most, and who decides to use nuclear weapons (in that case it would be a lose-lose situation because the opposition will retaliate with nukes of their own). If the war takes a long time to finish however, Russians will have a good chance at winning due to China most likely taking their side, causing a shortage of goods to the US.

If it wasn't a nuclear there's no question about it.. Nato would win. Nato consist of about 29 other nations that would assist in war, also we have other allies not in NATO. First off, China is smart enough to stay out of the war plus China has their own problems to worry about.. Plus Russia isnt even allies with China!

Yes, I completely based my decision off a TV show. I just used that to prove my point of how tough Spetsnaz are by saying even USA Special forces are intimidated by them.
I think the question is too broad. I only said China because if it was a war over communism, which given the History of Russia and USA, I think China and all communist counties would unite. China has the biggest army in the world, paired with NK, Iran and Russia, it doesn't matter how many countries are in Nato. Take a look at how the Russians defended their country in WW2. By sending men to their death because they could. Now they have men and tech.
