(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I am atheist but my parents aren't

I find it amusing that they tell me all these stories about Islam and the perks of being Muslim after death. But when I ask do you believe in magic they always reply the same answer. NO!!

That's being a hypocrite right there. If you believe in all the stories of your religion take Christianity for example

Jesus performed miracles and such but then why do religious people not believe in magic or the supernatural

i just don't get it

Because you can believe in something and not believe in another thing. For example you can believe in Jesus and not believe in Big Foot.

But i see what you mean...How can they believe in miracles if they don't believe in magic in general? I think in their head, magic is just the stereotypic little abra cadabra.

Magic is magic. When someone turns water into wine instantaneously, that is "magic" in every sense. Bigfoot has absolutely nothing to do with what we are talking about.

magic is the process of using illusions to cause people to perceive something was accomplished. in that sense it is real. at the same time elf can not run over to my house, say abra cadabra and make my house float. your parents are looking at harry potter magic, not miracles or anything else like that. thats why they say they don believe in it.

i think when they say they dont belive in magic thats because today most times people include magic and black magic as the same thing cause i dont belive in magic at all its all a trick if you ask me but maybe they dont belive in any magic for the reassion that its relatied to black magic and thats of the devil

That's just the person's personality. For example, I am a very 'open' person(can't think of the word) and I will take on board anything and at least give it a chance.

Well it seems blatant that your parents believe those miracles are not magic, but acts of God. I would say they are hypocritical, unless they preach one thing, yet do the opposite (on a daily basis).

well it is possible to believe in magic (jesus' miracles) without believing in whichcraft, your parents were probably brought up religious and so lead to believe that this "magic" was true, owever they have developed their own opinions on whichcraft
