(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Iraq War, Occupation of Iraq, Second Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom – regardless of the name, as of this morning, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, the War in Iraq is now over.

“After a lot of blood spilled by Iraqis and Americans, the mission of an Iraq that could govern and secure itself has become real,” said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta at the ceremony outside Baghdad’s airport. The war began almost 9 years ago when the United States and the United Kingdom invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003. To be exact, the war lasted 8 years and 270 days. Almost 4,500 U.S. soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis lost their lives in the war that was considered by some as the most unpopular U.S. military venture since the Vietnam War of the 1960s and 70s. The war, which lasted longer than Vietnam and World War II, was officially ended this morning by rolling up the American Flag during a small ceremony with U.S. troops.

Approximately 4,000 troops will remain in Iraq and will withdraw by the end of the year.
“Iraq will be tested in the days ahead, by terrorism, by those who would seek to divide, by economic and social issues,” said Panetta at the ceremony. “Challenges remain, but the United States will be there to stand by the Iraqi people.”

Just got to wait a couple of years, and they'll be back in.

A couple of years, give it a couple of months, we can't stay out of other countries problems and that is why so many people hate us...

Just noticed you lived in England, I seriously want to move over to the UK...

Really?
What about all these brilliant points: You must login or register to view this content.

But in all honesty and jokes aside, I don't think it's much better here anyway. We seem to be able to butt in other countries' problems pretty damn well.

Though, it is nice to be considered posh by everywhere else. Even though the majority of our population does shit all. Harsh but fair? I think so.

Well the only bad thing I'm really understanding is that the Euro may possibly fail but if I was to move over to the UK it won't be until I have earned enough money to just live on retirement money and move out to a countryside. Smile

I'm not an in city person, "introvert" if you know what I mean.

Ah, energy gets drained by being around lots of other people, huh?

Well, luckily for me I've always been based in the countryside. Only downer is the internet connection. Other than that, no downers at all..

I like being around people but not a lot of people, I'm introvert by nature and have social anxiety. In terms, when I got to dances and such, I shut down for most of it.

I went to our Fall Formal and basically sat down in a corner alone for about 3-1/2 hours where in the last 30 minutes my friends managed to pull me out to the dance floor where I stood muscle tight moving little by little like a robot for the last 30 minutes. I am not looking forward to Prom, especially since I don't have a date...

Anyways, I have always found the country side nicer than city life, I live in a small city around 47,000 people, 1/2 being illegals from Mexico (not trying to single out anyone but it is true).

Honestly, I'm the type that spends 90% of their day behind a computer screen although I am fun to be around and I do like doing things with some friends of mine but if at any chance I got the change to go camping and such, I drop all technology and just go.

A lot of people were still unaware of what was going on, we didn't even know what was happening to these people until we sent out our first troops and when we got the message and visuals of what is actually happening that's when we put our foot down.

As the dude above said, you would be amazed at just how many people had been left in the dark about what was happening.
The majority of European troops who would be taking over the camps had no idea what they had coming.

I do like how if I'm feeling unsociable, I just can be, without any drawbacks. If I lived in the city, I can picture a lot of uninvited friends randomly turning up on my door, expecting to be let it.

I recently closed my Facebook page as well. Stops me from coming on my laptop, and staying on for hours and hours on end, when I could actually be doing something productive.
