I am looking to go out and buy one in a store. Best Buy near me has You must login or register to view this content.. Is this what am I looking for? Can I play in HD and record in HD?

Thanks!

Hey mate, I've just bought a HD PVR from Amazon (UK) for £140 ehich is really cheap, £40 cheaper than normal, what the HD PVR lets you do is record in 1080i or 720p aswell as playing at those resolutions - those resolutions are pretty much the same as HD! so yea that's what it let's you do Smile before you order make sure your laptop supports it! The HD PVR you linked in the OP is the right one you need but don't forget you need a component cable for your console to PVR.

Hope I helped!

hi there,

yes that is the right product, but as the guy above me ^ said, you have to check your laptop supports it and its software, again as he said, you need the right component cables, don't make the mistake i made, I bought the wrong cables, ended up buying 3 until i bought the right ones! and yes you can in HD and record in HD at the same time, I am pretty much clarifying what sharpy said above but i hope i helped slightly,

P.S. just check the requirements on the hauppauge website!

enjoy it!

The HD PVR allows you to connect your console using component cables (RGB) which is not the highest of definitions. You cannot play your console in HDMI and record using the HD PVR.

The PVR is a great device and I used one for about two years. The software it comes with is Total Media Extreme which allows you to record in a few different formats. There is a good chance your computer will accept and run the software. I had a few bugs with the software and the device, but nothing I could not work through.

There are a few alternatives to recording. I currently recording using hdmi output from my console and inputs into my capture card. I use the You must login or register to view this content. which allows me to play using the HDMI cable. The software it comes with works, but isn't the best. I record my gameplay using FRAPS.

You can see some examples of my recording on my youtube channel if you really want to go that far. Smile I hope this feedback helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes you can record in HD, however I would buy the HDPVR Gaming edition. You must login or register to view this content. I got mine for $179 on cyber monday. Also, it comes with all the cords you need so you don't have to waist another 20$ and buy them.

Looks like the regular PVR... I don't see what they give you different. I mean, my console came with the component cables so I didn't have to buy anything different. Maybe I read this incorrectly.

Your console came with the HD component cables? The 5 colored ones? Also, they work on every console. Also, it comes with aircoft showbiz and allows you to capture in 3 different formats. I mean for the same price, it comes with more so why not buy it?

yes my consoles did... however that was a while ago I bought all this shit. :y: Arcsoft TME 2 is what came with my PVR, but again that was 2 years ago I bought that. I have since switched.
