(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'm joining volleyball as a senior and first-year. I never tried out my first three years because honestly I just slacked and focused more on my academics.

Just went to my first practice today. Massive suicides and conditioning; did fairly well. I'm one of the 20% who didn't manage to barf and 80% who didn't faint. I believe I'm in a fairly good fit state, but my legs gave away pretty quick compared to others.

We're just working on passing; I'm doing pretty good on both accuracy and precision but my issue is that my passes always hit high and not foward enough or I hit it foward and not high enough. Any tips on helping me improve my passes?

Also, any other tips such as appropriate volleyball shoes, court positions, callouts, spike/pass/block techniques, etc, would be grateful. I'm planning to make it on varisty for my first year. Winky Winky

Experience is the best way to improve no matter what. You just gotta get your hands on a volleyball and mess around with it any chance you get.

Are you high?
i don't know how to say it in english Happy but you need to hard practise this thing when you run to attack the ball (you can tell me how to tell it in english)
and experience is the most important thing (motivation also)

okay i thought to make you a clear tip field of volleyball (because i'm doing it for over 11 years so i know what i'm talking about :P)

Blocking

So the key part of blocking the ball is your teammate that is blocking
You really need to keep your hands a little bend over the net and tight.
another important part is timing and know where to block

timing:

timing is something you have to learn by practising, i do it automaticly and if i time i jump at the moment the attacker his arm is getting pulled back.

where:

blocking isn't about blocking the opponment, it's about blocking the ball. When you timed the ball correctly you should put your hands where the ball is going and not where the player is striking the ball.

striking

striking is the hardest part of volleyball because of timing and technics.

The fastest way to tell how to strike is by hitting the ball at the highest point of your arm so your arm must be stretched completly.
To give the ball the going down effect you need to flip your wrist over the ball, The last part is to make a complete swing with your arms from the highest point of your arm to somewhere around the knee.

passing

defending is also a hard part on volleyball because of the accuracy. just like you i also have problems with passing. But what they told me to do is to keep my head up and don't let my arms get higher then my shoulders and use my knees to give the ball some speed and height.
to get a more vertical hit i suggest you bend more over and to give the ball more height you should use your knees more.

some more tips Awesome face

- A good shoe brand for volleyball is asics i use my pair for over 3 years and they still play wonderfull. You need to look for shoes with a trampoline effect in the heel. these are my pair of shoes if you want to know.

- jumping comes from the upper legs not from the knees. so to jump higher train your upper legs Winky Winky

- last is the way you jump
if you know how to jump you can skip it but some people still are doing it wrong so:

step 1: begin with your right foot (if you're right if you're left it's the opposite)

step 2: make a little step to your left food

step 3: make a large step to your right food (you need to accelerate!!!)

step 4: use your left leg to stop you from going forward and going upwards.

these are the basics of volleyball if you have any questions you can PM me Awesome face

good luck

sorry for the bad englisch :embarrassed:
