I cant even figure out how to take the panels off to get to the speakers anyway. My dads a mechanic and he was like "WTF!?!". Hes gonna get one of his redneck buddies to look at it and maybe we can make a box for the Xplods. But for now, I have to wait. I wish I would have looked up the speaker size before I bought the Xplods. I got them at Walmart for 60 bucks. Cheap I know but Im not looking for the best right now. I am just looking for quality speakers to replace the blown speakers I have. I have heard good things about Xplod so I am hoping all will turn out as planned. Also, Its an extended cab so I have a whole backseat to mess around with. I just hope it doesnt take up too much room cause of the girlfriend. *wink wink*
Yeah, you have quite a bit more room than I do. The only thing Xplod I have is my head unit, I assumed that is what you were talking about.
I would refrain from using any sub-woofers or larger speakers from Wal-Mart, I'm sure you're fine now, just for future reference. I got my dash-speakers, which are Polk Audios, they sound decent. I had my current stuff installed by the people at Best Buy, so I didn't have to hassle with anything. The best sounding subwoofer I've heard in real life is my friend's Audioque. Audioques are really nice, and fairly good priced. One of those will definitely do the job. Yeah, my 6x9s are in boxes currently also. They just unhooked the door speakers so they wouldn't blow and distort anything. I'll just explain my box to give you a basic idea.
My sub will need about 2 cubic feet of airspace, so it's going to stretch all the way across my truck. The woofer is 6.66" in mounting depth, so I have to move up my middle seat a few inches. But basically, the sub is going into a box, then the 6x9s will be chambered by themselves on opposite sides of the truck. If you did something like that, you'd have quite a bit of room.
I assume all your speakers are stock and you want to replace them. You should probably have it looked at by a professional, thought it does cost a but extra money, it's better than messing something up in there.
