**** my Toaster !~!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I finally got my truck.. I am looking to install a sound system. (Chances are I will have it done professionally, that way if they **** up they have to fix it).

But the issue is I do not know a lot about audio. Specifically sub-woofers and the enclosures. I have been reading a little bit about ported vs sealed and possibly bandpass.

From my understanding Sealed- Is faster recovery and better sound quality.

Ported- Is deeper bass ( more boom!).

I've been told it depends on what music you listen to. I bounce around a-lot. Typically it's Metal and rock (hardcore, death) Old-School rap, and techno. The issue is rap and techno could benefit from the strong bass (ported). While Metal and Rock benefit from the response time (sealed).

Bandpass is a mixture of sealed and ported ( or so I believe) but the issue is I do not have a lot of room and I want 3 12" subs.

So for those of you who are educated in this area and who have sound systems what would you recommend?

If you really want a mix of SQ and SPL, ported is definitely the way to go. Although you might as well go sealed because going ported would require specific volume dimensions for each of the three woofers. Not to mention the box would have to be custom built and engineered correctly or else the port would not be efficient and that could affect both SQ and SPL. To save time and energy it would be easier to just buy a sealed and test for yourself. There's really no way to describe to you what your system may sound like, because there is no mention of the amplifier or subwoofers being used. Your subs could only be engineered for SPL or maybe for SQ. No way of knowing. Heres a link for the boxes.

I would go with sealed. If you go with ported you'd have to get a custom box etc. All in all it's totally up to you, if you have a local audio shop near you I'd go ask them for their professional opinion. But seeing how you bounce from one music genre to another its hard to really to choose between ported, sealed etc.

Thanks for answering guys!

@- RathHavoc - The fact that I bounce around from genre to genre is why I was thinking about going sealed. I do plan on going to a audio shop next week, hopefully they actually know their stuff.

@- the stuff - Yeah I didn't mention the amp or subs because I am not sure at the moment. I know I don't really want to go cheap, but I really wanted to figure out the box issue first.

Depending if I can find a sub and amp package I was thinking about possibly going rockfordfosgate for sub and amp.
