Midnight Request Line by Skream was the first proper dubstep track. I remember when it came out. Everyone was going crazy because they had this great, futuristic record but nothing to really mix it with. It took a long time to build up a decent dubstep record collection after that. Everything before that was more like future garage. It didn't have the distinctive kick snare combo that you get in dubstep. Rusko didn't start making music until years after Midnight Request Line was released.

Chuck Norris, because Chuck Norris invented it.

Also people enjoy it, like me its different then other music and that's why people listen to it. Well that's one reason why I listen to it.

It started in Croydon (London). The earliest dubstep releases date back to 1998.
