(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Seeing as that this section is somewhat dead already, I thought I'd give it a go. Some of us have been having the Trayvon Martin incident talk in the shoutbox for about a week now. It'll be more organized here, I guess.

Try to refrain from racist words or remarks, as I will too. So just post your opinions about the situation below, as I'll post mine too.

In my opinion, I think that this Trayvon Martin situation is a bunch of crap. Honestly, all of the ghetto black people are just pulling out the race card, etc. I had even saw a picture of a guy selling a shirt saying "Pussy ass cracker." And in school, since I live in the county this happened in, I saw this ghetto black girl with a sign saying "Arrest that cracker." I mean, it's a real shame that all of the ghetto black people pull out the race card no matter what. This is just like the OJ case. They all say he's innocent when clearly proven otherwise with more than a sufficient amount of evidence. Sad thing is - Zimmerman isn't white.

Not to mention Trayvon's history. He was suspended in school for having been caught with a weed bag in his bag? I mean... He's obviously not the angel everyone has been giving him accreditation for. People just really need to see the factual side of this seeing as that Trayvon was around the area trying to act like a thug. He was probably planning on doing other bad shit anyway. Not to mention, beating up Zimmerman was enough to get his ghetto ass shot.

Trayvon is guilty and deserved to die, as Zimmerman was only protecting himself.

You have the Florida state law correct, however I noticed a misconception in your logic. Zimmerman had called the police and they had told him to just wait - granted. However, after that, Trayvon had started beating the shit out of him? Unacceptable. Sure, I'd be pissed if I saw a guy calling the cops on me. But that's no reason to resort to said action. Due to the stand your ground law in Florida, he was prohibited to fire is weapon as it was for self-defense purposes.

I live around that area where the white kid got set on fire. Disgusting. Did you see any white people pull the race card to this extent? Making tee-shirts saying "Pussy ass cracker." Seriously.. And I totally agree with you. I completely think that Trayvon is guilty, however, he has a right to fair trial and a jury of peers and never really got that right.

And I also agree about the celebrity thing. They're making matters far worse.

You said it yourself. Stand your ground. He was protecting himself when Trayvon had attacked him. Also, I didn't hear that "$#@!ing coons" thing.

And hiding? I would too!! Due to this whole $#@!ing racial thing, the Black Panthers are looking for Zimmerman. He's a $#@!ing dead man if he's found. You would hide too.

Where is anything saying Trayvon was first to attack? Trayvon ran away and Zimmerman chased him.....................

From what I hear, Trayvon was walking around, Zimmerman called the cops, and then Trayvon tried to beat the shit out of him. Then Zimmerman revealed his weapon, Trayvon ran, and he shot.

However, I will give you one thing; regardless of the situation, no one, at no time, is permitted to shoot another person in the back.

Well given if the other person has a gun and turns their back.. But that's silly I suppose.

My question is why didn't Trayvon call the police the second he suspected someone was following him?

All around there is to much information missing from both sides of this.

You know, my only issue I find is to what extent is Stand Your Ground applicable? I mean, I've had my ass kicked before. If I HAD a gun on me, would I have been right to shoot him? It says if deadly force is used or threatened on you, is a fist a deadly weapon?

Also, I believe he was on the phone with a 911 operator, which doesn't have any jurisdiction. In all honesty, is death fair punishment for being a little stoned?

Anyways, nice intelligent discussion :y:

Listen to Zimmerman's phonecall I posted, you don't hear him get attacked at all. You hear Zimmerman talking to the police and then he says he's running. From that information I infer that Zimmerman exposed his weapon, Trayvon ran away and they ended up on the ground and fighting, then the shot was fired. My guess is Zimmerman tried to apprehend Trayvon himself, when he shouldn't have.

I have to agree it has been a nice intelligent discussion.

And no being a little stoned should not result in having your life taken.

But I do believe that a fist could cause death but shouldn't or wouldn't be considered a deadly weapon. I think it comes down to the legal definition of the term deadly force.

As far as I know, if someone isn't where they're legally supposed to be (i.e. trespassing), you have right to shoot. Now, don't quote me on it, but I think that's it.

I know for a fact, however, if someone comes into your house uninvited, you have every right to shoot them.

And for your case, I'm not sure. :\

If you saw someone call the cops on you and you think you aren't doing anything, what are you gonna do?
I, myself, would be pissed.

I'd run. I wouldn't approach the person and make it worse. The fact of the matter is that neither of us know what EXACTLY happened at that particular moment in time, but you should be ashamed of yourself for saying Trayvon deserved to die. That's just plain cold-hearted.

1) You're completely right. There is no "evidence." We're all going by on what we heard and assume.

2) I don't normally say people deserve to die. That's a terrible thing to do. However, in this case... Trayvon wanted to act like a thug, so he died like one. No one's fault but his own.
