I'm looking to get my car painted but no one around here seems to know how to do Carbon Fiber?
Anybody know the mix/tape work for it?
Having a full car in Carbon Fibre is not a nice sight. Carbon fibre is used to make the car lighter and not for looks, so people who fully carbon fibre their cars end up painting it the body colour so it cannot be seen. However, if you like the look of carbon fibre I recommend you give touches to the car. Such as doing the side mirrors in carbon fibre for example, the badges of the car work as well. You can also outline features in the cars body with carbon fibre wrap.
Unless you manufacture a carbon fibre part from scratch such as the parts used on race cars you cannot paint it on (very expensive).
However, you do have the cheaper option of wrapping the car. Some places do it better than others, you can get an end product that looks exactly like real carbon fibre, by first applying the CF wrap then finishing it with some lacquer to give it the shine. The roll can be bought and fitted yourself if you are willing to do it and not end up with a perfect job done.
If you look at my avatar, I opted to paint my parts black instead of wrapping in carbon fibre. Although that was my first option until I saw the cons of wrapping. I live in Abu Dhabi and it gets quite hot, so after a period of time the wrap my warp and you would need to replace it which becomes expensive eventually.
Also, the following is a forum link where they discuss a bit about car wrapping/real carbon fibre a bit with some pictures;
