(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Is the Fender Standard Strat worth buying? If you know of any other cheap, decent guitars (around $100 - $300) please recommend them Happy Preferably one that is NOT a Les Paul design, I already own a Dean Evo XM and hate the Les Paul design because it makes the last few frets hard to hit :p

Les Paul designs are beast for rhythm, you will hardly venture from the 6-16th fret when it comes to them. As for a strat, you aren't going to find a Fender for $100-$200. I'd say go with making a worthwhile investment though because those higher quality guitars such as Fender, Gibson or Epiphone (if you're considering a LP) are going to last longer (as in, they use good wood when making the neck of the guitar and such, it won't warp and it won't have to be worked on much) than your alternatives. I guess it depends on what your goals are for this guitar to decide what to invest in.

Who's the maker? If duration is not of your concern then just about any manufacturer will do for you, but if you plan on keeping the guitar around 6-8 years then you'll want to go with a good name such as Fender. As with that, you're not going to find a good Fender strat but for a $500-$800 range, although I wouldn't go much more than $850 because then you're just being cheated.
