(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'm just making a simple disscussion thread: what would it take for you to believe in aliens?

I mean, if we see a video of a star doing something obscene on tmz, we believe it, but a video of a UFO doesn't do it for us...

If I were to post a video of a alien, it would be labeled BS. If I uploaded audio, it'd be BS. If I uploaded pics, it's BS.

Anyways, short of actual interaction with one, what would it take to make you believe in one?

So's gravity. I'm not quite sure where you're going with this.

Now, when you add 2+2 we know, for a fact, that the answer is 4. On the other hand, when we do the maths and work out that there's Z chance of X existing, that's all it is, a chance. You shouldn't proclaim certainly that X exists based on chance. As I said there's a chance that a flying spaghetti monster exists, and there's a chance that aliens exist. The odds are just vastly different.

How are the odds vastly different? The Universe seems to be infinite so the possibilities are Infinite in themselves.

Exactly. Gullible people thought the Earth was the center of the Universe , Gullible people thought the earth was flat. In a thousand years our understanding and knowledge of space will be more advanced and we will have more proof for the possibilities our Math has posed to us.

Firstly, claiming that the universe is seemingly infinite is false. Secondly, such (flawed) logic also suggests that somewhere along this infinite universe of yours is a flying spaghetti monster and a giant Twix bar.

Regarding the universe though, and please somebody correct me if I'm wrong, if I recall correctly I do believe that the science suggests that the universe is constantly expanding from a single central point. There's a great difference between this and an infinite universe.

Your correct , scientist suggest that the universe is constantly expanding but they also suggest [Multiverse theory] that their is multiple Universe next to our Universe but a different action might have happened which leads to a reaction that has not happened in our Universe.

Lets say in Universe A (ours) 2 big planetary bodies crashed into each other to make The earth we know now with the Moon we know now , Got our atmosphere due to these action/reaction then Life started in the sea and then to land and so on til us.
Lets says then in Universe B when the earth was being made some action/reaction made other form of life.[ like extremophiles which we have on our own planet.] Then it safe to say even using the Theory of Multiverse's it is possible for Twix Monsters!!

Back to my point. All theory are just theories but Math has been proven over and over to be correct and always correct so If Math can be used to determine if there is life in the Universe and If Math is never wrong , then the Possibility for Spaghetti Monsters are a High probability .

Fair enough, at least we're clear on each other's standpoints now.

To be quite honest I don't know enough about science to continue this discussion, but whatever the truth behind our universe is I'm sure it's fascinating.

A planet that is similar to earth was discovered a few years ago.. It's called gliese 518C. Anyway it has large bodies of water, a regular tempurature, and an atmosphere.. Making it habitable for life. It's 20 light years away though, humans will not reach the planet in our lifetime unless we break light speed. I thought it was interesting and there could actually be life there. if you want to read about it here is a link:

I hope there isn't any Flying spaghetti monster or twix creature out there, for if we find them college kids will devour them, leaving us nothing. Smile
Damn now I am hungry.

A bunch of Pot heads in the future will find the location and invade that Planet after a long space trip with the space ship fogged up with weed smoke. Smile
