there are two sides to this.

If god was real and created everything then the chicken would come first as god created it. But wouldnt God or created an egg but not before a chicken?

But an egg is what a chicken comes from

what do you think :carling:

The egg. Scientifically, the chicken would have most likely been a mutation of another bird, so for it to be classified it must have been birthed with a egg shell to be considered a chicken.

Millions of years of inbred mating and genetic mutations before today, the egg.

Reptiles have existed way before than chickens and they lay eggs /thread.

Hey there.

As has been said above, it was the egg.

At some point in history, a creature which would have been the genetic ancestor to the modern-day chicken would have laid a few eggs.

Of those eggs, a few would have hatched and been the same as the egg layer, genetically, however, one or however many of them would have been laid and during fertilisation (or even beforehand) a genetic change/error/mutation would have occurred which fundamentally altered the animal and allowed it to hatch as the modern-day "Chicken".

Of course, once this was born, it reproduced and as more modern-day chickens were born, the genetic diversity continued to grow and natural selection did what it does and after a long time, we ended up with what we see as a chicken.

So, the answer is, and always will be: the egg.

Cheers!

Long ago and far away giant chickens roamed the earth. They were half the size of a t rex, but still unable to protect themselves. So after years of evolution they shrunk down to modern day size. Too bad though, just think of the omelets we could have made.

I think the chicken evolved from another bird before it.
Or maybe a bird rooted a reptile, then chicken egg was laid. :carling:
