The Pittsburgh Pirates Andrew McCutchen has been selected to participate in the Home Run Derby at the 2012 All-Star Game. Cutch sent the news out in a tweet after the Bucs dropped the Giants on Saturday night–just about the time Daughtry was belting out some bad tunes.
McCutchen replaces Giancarlo Stanton.
If Cutch can have success in the HR Derby, he would be the first Pirate player to do so. In the history of the HR Derby, the Pirates haven’t had great luck. Remember Jason Bay? Back in 2005, Bay didn’t hit one. In 1992, Barry Bonds hit two. In 1990, Bobby Bonilla didn’t hit a single one.
