Probably some spiel about giving your faith to god and changing for the better will have better outcomes for you. A priest would probably throw in some excerpts in there too but I'm not familiar with many :p
Also, do you want this moved to intellectual discussion to avoid the fail troll posts?
I had some religious broad call my mother a whore then say I'm going to hell, and the devil is looking at me. I was like seriously? Then she said she fucked my mother when she was a nazi lol

That question assumes that the one praying already knows their fate. I'm not religious, but from what experience I've had in religious settings, most people tend to pray to their god for consolation rather than a blatant request for change. The keyword is hope; since most individuals are unaware of their fate, they can only hope for the best. That's why they pray. God is more of a symbol of good prospect, not really a fate changer.
Now in response to your question, assuming the individual praying does know their fate, it is pointless to go to a God for any reason outside of consolation and comfort. This world is governed by the fundamental laws of science, and a person's course in life is usually* dependent upon their decisions. There is no escaping the inevitable. It's foolish to think that a god will disregard the laws of nature in order to satisfy your wishful thinking, and it's foolish to think that a god will be your safeguard for every wrong decision you make.
I've always wondered this but no one said god had your fate planned, but rather he knows what "will" happen. Time is weird and he could theoretically change things.
You dont pray for selfish reasons. You pray for forgiveness, salvation, and that God's will may be done. Also, pray thanking God for the good and the bad. It's all in his plan.
God does not plan your fate. He gave us minds to make our own decisions. We pray when we need comforting, or when we need help with something that we may not have wanted for to happen.

I withdraw the previous statement that I had made regarding the universe. But I guess I believe in God to keep me sane.
