It seems to me that in every scary movie, someone only dies for a reason. No matter why/how they died or who killed them, it's for a reason. They might've done nothing wrong, or maybe they have, but completely innocent people don't just die.
What do I mean by this? Perhaps a few examples may show what I mean.
In this series of movies, Jason Vorhees only kills those who went to or visited Camp Crystal Lake.
In this series of movies, "death" only puts those that cheated it on its list.
In this series of movies, Freddy Kreuger only kills those that he had intercourse with while they were in pre-school.
There are plenty of more movies/series that oblige by this rule. Is it a coincidence? If so, elaborate. If not, do tell.
In my opinion, I think this is set to keep viewers alert in that if any of the movie was true, they'd be safe. Perhaps providing a more... fictional movie seeing as that the settings of them are once again, not real.
