The Ouya is a new console currently in development by Android devs and is said to be "the very first open-gaming console."

Can the Ouya stand up to the Big Two?

The Ouya and its Kickstarter campaign started back in July, Boxer8 ; Company helping designing and production, estimated $950k from this kickstarter...man were they wrong! Approximately $8.5mil was raised during the kickstarter and the money keeps rolling in!

These past few days multiple game devs have been in the midst of Ouya exclusive productions. Companies including Robotoki, Square Enix, Namco Bandai, and hundreds apon thousands of Indie Games...Including Minecraft!! All completely free!

Yes. Yes you read that correctly, the Ouya is planned to release all of its Indie Games completely free though "Boxer8's Ouya Store."

Now if all of those devs and stats didn't sell you, maybe the specs will..

The Ouya's OS will be Android 4.0 otherwise known as ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A9 Processor, only 8GB flash Memory, and a 1GB RAM; which isn't too impressive, for a console. The top will res settings will be 1080p (HDMI), also NVIDIA ULP GeForce GPU (Sounds pretty good), and one standard USB 2.0 port. Ouya will also be WiFi compatible, BluTooth LE 4.0, and yes an Ethernet Port.

Now the Ouya's controller has a sleek, sexy, modern-look to it. And I for one like it.

The controller is going be wireless, include the basic Action Pad, DPad, 2 Analog Sticks, and a system button. Also the controller will include a total of 8 Action Buttons. So pretty much your typical controller.

One crucial thing I forgot to mention the Ouya will be 100% hackable and Devs are insisting it! Why? Because hacks show them bugs and and make them better devs. Also because it makes more fun!! Actually..this is the final detail that I seem to be forgetting the Ouya isn't going to be an outragous price, just $99.

Pre-Orders are going on now so go get one at their website You must login or register to view this content. Could the Ouya take down the Ps3 and 360? We'll see in April of 2013.

Worth the Weight
Still not going to be meeting the needs of conventional console gaming. I guess it might be nice. To me I don't think it's going to get that much attention, and it's really just a lot of hype.

Letting people hack/mod it is an awesome idea as long as it doesn't influence the competitive online play. I mean look at minecraft, letting people mod it made it 10x more fun!
