where it should be whatever the lens is facing, when i take pictures or video its black. I have check all of the settings and theres nothing that needs changing. It's an xacti sanyo vpc-gh1

Have you taken the lens cap off?

Check through all the different settings and make sure that's it actually turned on etc. :p. Try forums specific to the product or manufacturer or try contacting the manufacturer.
