Recently, the US Embassy here in Cairo was attacked by Muslim extremists and they had gotten the U.S. Flag and torn it apart. They had put the Black Islamic flag on the poll. Now the reason they had done this is because a man named Sam Bacile had made a video called "The Muhammad Movie" which insulted Islam and Islamic beliefs. Obama stated "Justice will be done." Please try to keep this thread friendly and respond with your opinion on what's happening lately.

I personally think that what happened in Cairo is embarrassing and these Extremists reacted violently. I also think Sam Bacile should be punished in some kind of way because it is not humane to do what he did. In the Libya story, i think that Obama will probably send troops there and try to settle the place down.

Why would Sam need to be punished? He's covered under free speech. I mean, South Park does much more. This is honestly crazy, all over a damn movie.

the person that made the video should be put on blame for what ever happened and there is no reason to hate or make fun of other people's beliefs and culture as we all are in fact the same in the end and whoever made the video did wrong and should be punished but going on about killing people is wrong as well

Refusing to critique opinions and beliefs would lead to the most stagnant, counter-productive, infuriating and outright stupid society imaginable.

If people adopted your ideology a few hundred years ago we wouldn't have progressed to where we are now, just as adopting it now would halt progression towards the future. I haven't watched the video but if it didn't even go to the levels that South Park did then the creator did nothing wrong.

Free speech should reign supreme over a few people getting fussy that their beliefs were mocked a little.

this free speech you speak of is only in some countries but others arent and they do not like it

Failure to answer the far right is indeed costing us with social issues which are easy to fix.
If we don't answer these people soon unrest is going to spread and it going to be harder to reform in the nature needed. As to what the world is coming to a world without a leader, that has a economic storm coming along with unrest in the middle east and a section of society who feel like the system has failed.

End of the day obmas hands are tied by the fact it social problems in another nation has caused this. He also can't do much because well the rest of the world does not want to do anything. Embarrassing for Egypt and Libya also shows the complex problems in both nations.
As what to do with Sam Bacile nothing.....he has done no wrong apart from upload a video which is viewed as offensive in one part of the world. He should however say sorry and it should end.
Yes i do understand it viewed as a insult it just satirical. Islam should work to understand the western world and we should work to understand them.

Pretty sad this video came to happen, it is actually extremely offensive when you look at it, and it's not even a cartoon, it's a real video with real people making a mockery of other peoples beliefs...
Sad thing is call of duty videos get blocked in <hour but these videos don't.
But the person who made it had definently got into hiding, he had many interviews and gave different information each time.

When I first heard about these things I was shocked at how these people reacted. And I don't really agree with putting any blame on the creator of the video. He has the right to share his view on people even if it is disrespectful or "wrong" to do so.

Didn't watch the movie and don't intend to. However, what people choose to believe is entirely up to them. You shouldn't insult their beliefs, especially to those followers who are as extreme as Islams. I mean, you never really see documentaries being made that "insult" Christianity (at least, not that I've seen).

It's not really whether or not you should critique opinions, it's in which way to do so that matters, and apparently, that one crossed the line.
