I was half way through typing a reply saying something along the lines of "But you don't trust a cop with a possibly lethal procedure or prescribing a possibly lethal drug to someone, doctors do so much more," when I realized the complete idiocy of that statement. We basically give these cops a gun, which can kill and injure.
My point was that one takes lives while the other tries to save lives. Cops are basically given the right to go out and kill which OFWGKT touched on. I think people who are given the power and authority to kill need to be much more qualified than they currently are. Obviously it takes no sense at all to kill another person while doctors require an inordinate amount of knowledge to do what they do. However, when the government grants someone the right and means to take another's life I believe that person should be required to undergo at least four years of schooling in a subject such as psychology. That's just my opinion though.
