(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Just wanted to share with you guys some interesting shit about what I do for a living.

I am a Correctional Officer for the state of Texas, work at a Maximum Security Prison and I am around murderers, thieves, rapists, pedophiles, and everything in-between 12 hours a day, 4 days a week. There are some in there that you would never expect of being a murderer. Several people I have gotten to know, as well as other Officers have gotten to know, and it's a damn shame to know they have been in Prison for over 20 years for the murder of someone. Most of the ones that complain how the Prison system is run are reoccurring Offenders. I asked one of them, who seems "alright" if he regrets what he did. (He's serving a 25 year sentence for stabbing a man and killing him, which he is on his 24th year, and looking for Parole next month in October, actually) He told me..."in a way, Officer Scott."

There are mental illnesses everywhere, in which reflect murders, rapists, etc. But you also have to take into effect...if I was a father, for example, and someone raped my daughter, I'd kill the man who took my daughters freedom from her. If I wouldn't kill him, the "judicial system" better give this man life, because if not, I'll spend the rest of my life in Prison without hesitation.

And don't get me wrong, there are plenty of dumb shits in Prison. I've been in what's called "Use Of Forces" which involves touching, or having to place an Offender on the ground. I've been in fights, got my ass kicked, and watched other Officers get the living shit kicked out of them. Most usually get their eye orbital sockets shattered, broken nose, etc. You have to realize though, being locked up in a cell most of the day, what else is there to do but work out? Most of these guys, young and old work out probably 15+ hours a day, and some can do about 500 pushups within an hour. So yeah. If you took a punch from one of these guys, you'd get laid out too.

I haven't seen the movie Bernie yet, but that Prisoner is in the Prison I work at. Barry Telford Unit in New Boston, Texas. They actually had Jack Black come out there, and interview this guy. =D Too bad I was off. He is in the Protective Custody Building. That building provides housing for the 'punks' and the big time drug dealers, etc. Let me tell you about these punks...they're the gay men in the Prison system. They act more girly than a woman, and giving the fact it's a MALE Prison, they are provided male clothing. I've never seen creativity when it comes to clothes. G-Strings, thongs, the way they do their hair, which is kept short at all times for everyone. It's insane, and ridiculous. Just thought I'd share that with you guys.

The men in prison are the most creative little bastards I've ever seen. They make electrical outlets, Stingers, Hooch, and anything else you could imagine, and hide it in the most awkward places. I've found a coke can once with the top part cut open, and the inside filled with melted soap so it would feel heavy, and tobacco was inside the can. The top was cut to perfection, so if you didn't actually shake the can, you would never know it was cut. Drack In case some of you were wondering, a Stinger is something they make to heat up their hot pots. About the only decent thing these guys get that they can purchase is Ramen Noodle Soup. We call them Soups. They use these manipulated cords to plug into the wall, and make the water boil. Hooch is Prison alcohol. From my understanding, most are scared to drink it because it's like poison. All they do is find fruits, and store them somewhere for a couple of weeks and go from there. Those multiple electrical outlets you can buy at Wal Mart which cost about $5...they make out there with an Aluminum can, cardboard, and string. It works. It's not safe, but they all work.

I know some of you don't give two shits, but I thought I'd share this shit with you. Any questions, ask me. Any "I don't care," GTFO.
We've all seen movies, and how things actually was back in the old days. In actuality, they used to let the Prisoners run the system. If an Offender would act up, they would put him in a cell with the biggest inmate in the entire prison, and let them fight to the death. They would bury the others body wherever. It's A LOT different now, obviously, because of lawsuits. The Prison system gets constant complaints/lawsuits. |:|
I know. Stupid. So it's just a read, or even a toilet read if you wish. But where I work, the Officers aren't really noticed for their work. We aren't noted like the public Officers, Traffic Cops, Fireman, etc. We're surrounded by people who have life sentences, and don't care if they kill you. They don't care if they beat a woman into a pulp, rape her unconscious body, and leave her in the dumpster outside, and yes, that has happened before. The only weapon we carry is a pepper spray that is unbelievably strong. During our hire-in process, we had to be gassed by the carry on spray, as well as the other shit they use. OC gas. It takes the breath out of you, and it suffocates you. The other stuff, our pepper spray blinds you, and takes your breath away, as well as makes snot run uncontrollably. It's horrible, but we almost use it on a daily basis. It's a very, very dangerous job, and we are very under-appreciated. I guess this thread kind of gives people an idea on what goes on there. Enjoy.

And to conclude, this isn't illegal in any way. Freedom of Speech gives you the right to express whatever, or however you wish. Also, any information I have said can be found throughout the internet already, as well Offender information. Bernie is listed on TDCJ's website. The Protective Custody Building, which I did not name, or the location, is a known fact within TDCJ, and the public.

"I'd kill the man who took my daughters freedom from her" You meant to say daughters Innocence right?

"Prison system gets constant complaints/lawsuits."
"I know. Stupid"

It's not stupid If I was ever incarcerated for a period of time and was beaten senseless by an inmate in an unprovoked attack I'd be taking it up with the prison for not doing there job properly and letting other inmates do shit like that. At the end of the day you can recieve lawsuits and complaints wherever you work.

"the Officers aren't really noticed for their work."

That happens in just about ever job you go into with responsibility excluding jobs like Police officer and Paramedic where they're always constantly being made out to be hero's. I worked as an officer on a passenger ship and people don't seem to realise that if you have a bad day at work and end up some how colliding with another ship thousands of people could die but you're paid £30k a year which for the work you do and responsibility you undertake is far too little also I forgot to mention that If I fuck up at work and collide with another ship I would most likely end up being prosecuted and sent to prison for an error. That being said though the only people that really understand the job you do are your fellow work colleagues and that's the same in my career.
