I would prefer to keep it under $150 but I might be able to go higher.Help me out here?

If you are going to be serious about playing it, I recommend you spend around ~$350 on the guitar just because the ones you get for $150 have horrible sound quality. As for brand I tend to prefer Art and Lutherie but it's mostly a matter of personal preference.
