btw i bought the game from bestbuy and got the code from their and just redeemed it on ps3 so i didnt buy elite separately i bought it with the game

did you buy elite and activate it after you already had elite before?

Sometimes companies do contact you through PSN. You can tell it's a company because you won't be able to select the name or friend request it or anything. I remember I got one once, but I can't remember the company off the top of my head, but I did get a message before.

that is where your wrong. Sony actually do 'SEND' psn messages but rarely. One example is that sometimes they send PSN+ 30 Day trial messages with messages include bunch of ways PSN+ comes with blah all that shit. Also, usually when someone messages you there Avatar/Logo doesn't appear.

The persons avatar does appear. But that specific icon isn't available to buy and brackets cannot go on the name so this seems real.
