Well, when alcohol became illegal, people had to adjust from a lifestyle where it was legal to a lifestyle where it is illegal. I could be wrong, but I think that is why they wanted to keep drinking alcohol, because they were already drinking it, and they didn't want to change.
I think I can see what you're trying to say, but I don't think it's relevant to the situation that marijuana is in, because people are making two different adjustments. If something that is already illegal becomes legal, you're only allowing more people to access it, and as I said earlier, I don't think allowing more people to access marijuana is necessary.
