(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey NGU, i live in the NYC Metropolitan area. We're expecting 4-6'' of rain and wind gusts up to 75 MPH. Me and my dad are putting everything away in the back/front yard, and we're going to tie down our basketball hoop. So what precautions are you guys going to take (People in the area where Hurricane Sandy will hit)? Im just curious

I live in Queens & I'm going to tie down flowers, that's it. There's not that much to worry about unless for those who live near the Rockaway beach. I hope the CUNY schools close down or that the J train doesn't work on Tuesday so that I'll have more time to study for my statistics and accounting tests (highly possible).

nice. What part of Queens you live in? I live in Flushing. No offence, but i think you're flowers would probably get blown away...Good lucky during the storm. Irene wasn't really bad last year.

Oh, you live in Syracuse. They wont get hit as hard, but at least you have a generator. I dont, so my family and i will be eating chips and beans from a can, like the tornado we've had back in September 16, 2011. Power was out for a couple days, and con-ed did a good job restoring it.

This is generally where I tell people out there to stay dry -- I'm on the exact opposite coast. The hurricane looks like a doozy and I've been writing about the science involved with hurricane prediction and all the satellites/scientists involved.

I'll be on the lookout for people recording their experience, and I hope that they stay safe (even if they don't stay entirely dry.)

i know dude. And in my area, we have LOADS of big oak trees.. thats the main threat for damage in my opinion. Since they're so large, wherever they fall, will likely bring down a power line and cause power outages.
