Red heads can produce vitamin D at low light levels, why areas of the earth with low light levels have high numbers.
People who have that gene can often have red hair as a result.
You have to also remember that it a recessive gene so people may get the vitamin D benefit but no red hair.
Myth of the death of red hair is also wrong.
