i went to the sony outlet and got a refurbished pair for 45$ + 25% off.
best deal i found around and they have a 1 year warranty.
and a video comparing them to the beats.
if you dont care about the soft case here is a review. not mine.

The only thing i like about the beats by dre is their design.
If were talking purely the best headphones out there, money no object. The either AKG K701's or Sennheiser HD 800's. Good budget headphones are Sony MDR-V6's infact I'm considering getting some to replace my Bose AE2's and I don't want to where my K701's all the time.
The best two headphones for the price that I've used are the ATH-M50's and the Sennheiser HD 598.
The Sennheiser pair is better for home use, however is about $60 more than the ATH M50's retail. If you shop around on Amazon you could probably find a better price. The Sennheiser HD 598's are better for home usage as they are not closed back headphones. They leak sound like hell, but they sound better than the ATH-M50's.
I have a pair of M50's and I can say they are still the best closed back headphones for the money. They are nice and quiet and leak almost no sound at all, but it really depends what you are looking for in a pair of headphones. I can also say the ATH M50's are extremely comfortable and I can wear them for hours on end. The Sennheiser HD 598's are just as comfortable, if not more.
When it comes to headphones I always been Mr Budget. Never picked up or used a high end pair of headphones always gone for budget headphones.
Best pair I found so far are koss portapro.
For the price you do get noise leaks but overall quality and build makes it a great pair of headphones. Simple design but it does the job.
May pick up a high end pair of headphones in the future , it won't be a pair of beats don't like the design.

the bass is the on skullcandies is balanced as they are good overall headphones and the HD 598 are audiophile headphones so they are balanced aswell but have good bass as they arn't highly distorted with bass like beats and other popular headphones i don't own the skullcandy or HD 598s but i have heard them in store and i settled with a cheaper pair because they sound good for the price and they where flat black the way i like but i'm thinking of buying some HD 598s because theyre classic style and have tons of high reviews, the ones millz linked are good aswell but i like Sennheiser i have had 2 pairs and they sound awesome and are about as guaranteed as a samsung tv quality wise
