Well religion does hurt people jihad extremists, the different christian religions here where I live in Ireland killing each other for over 100 years, The Halocaust the list really goes on.. Also without religion we would be far more advanced in science. People like Galileo where pursued and punished by the church for his work in science. Same with Charles Darwin who was punished for his "heretical" Ideas of evolution. I believe it more people believed in Science than religion we would live in a much better world and a more advanced one.
I really am fed up of people being so ignorant about Islam. I am not a muslim, but due to having quite a few friends who are, ive learnt a fair bit about the religion. It is incredible, and there is very little violence involved in the religion. Which is why the majority, if not 99.99999999999999% of all muslims are as peaceful as, if not more so, than any buddhist or Christian. As usual the tiny tiny tiny minority of people, who receive a lot of western media attention cause the vast, ignorant minded majority of the population to suddenly stereotype an entire religion, or even a large portion of it as terrorists, who are all in search of Jihad.
Using the holocaust is an awful example. You are blaming a religion for someone killing millions of its followers. No. The issue was that he was uneducated and intolerant of the religion, like many people nowadays. It was in no way caused by religion.
You fail to see that science and religion can coincide, in fact a large amount of scientists who have made the biggest discoveries known to man have been religious: Copernicus, Galileo (nullifies your point really...) , Pascal, Isaac Newton, Mendel, and the list goes on, and on, and on....
