(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); What i mean by this is when it comes to voting 90%+ would just vote, what there parents did, or the same party every year.

What i'm getting at, in theory with democracy before voting you should look at every party, their polices, what their plans are, their stance etc.

But the problem with people today is most people just pick one of the main 2 (rare case 3) party's without looking at the options available, how do you know that their isn't a small party perfect for you out their? the problem is people don't look at the options.

So what i am getting at is, do people really deserve the right to blindly vote? or should their be rules and guideline e.g. in order to be able to cast your vote you have to read all the party's that are running, manifesto's (what they plan on doing etc) and the party's basic principles, you should then answer questions on each the party's in order to show you understand what they are about, then once this is complete you can cast your vote.

What i mean is everyone can vote but has to do these tasks to show that they understand what they are voting for and not just blindly voting with taking in the options?

P.S i'm from the UK so if that affects anything you know.

Deserve? In this society where most people are willfully ignorant of the politicians they laud so highly, no. But they should have the right regardless.

I think the ignorance issue can mostly be solved with education. What other way can there be?

So what you mean or are getting at is the electorate is uninformed?
How about we try and get 90% of the electorate to actually cast a vote.

You can't even get people to show ID when voting, who the hell is going to take a test?

Let's settle for better turn out, and maybe just never vote for an incumbent :p

Here is what I'm getting at, the only people more ignorant than the Avg voter, is the lying bastard they are voting for Smile

By the time of the 2015 general election, I'd have just turned 18 by a week or two. I follow politics now as I find it interesting so I'll have a good idea who to vote for by then hopefully.
