(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); As many of you know, we ( USA ) are in huge debt. Majority of that owed to China. Is it possible that in our future we'll see a new world currency ? ( If i'm not mistaking it's the US dollar right now.)

Just wanted to see some thoughts on this.

*this thread is not a thread to flame USA. (it'll only make you look stupid)

Doubtful.

Regardless, I can't see this happening. I think if it did people would flock to something like Bitcoin.

Who is Stansy?
I'm gonna say no for the short term but yes in the long term. I think as world economies continue to be dog shit you'll see some currencies disappear, some merge, etc.

In Flames Much?
Short term no
Long term maybe.
Right now it the US dollar due to how stable it been, no other currency which is stable enough.
Euro could have but until it fixes it issues won't happen.
Renminbi has not been around long enough in the world stage, also fears that it too closed off.

With most of the worlds growth coming from the newer markets it likely are going to see a new currency.

Today Will Be Different
Who knows. One issue with a world currency is that you will need someone to be in charge of making, financing, and overseeing every aspect of this operation. Obviously every country would want in on this, so the chances of countries going to war with one another is likely. And of course the value would be another issue. The value would have a negative impact on First World countries because less developed countries would be on the same level of financial worth.

And the idea of a world currency has been around for a long time and I personally think that it would never happen because countries who have a high financial worth don't want to drop to another tier or be in the same tier as a Third World country.

Probably wouldn't work even if it happened. Though would be really convenient for tourists.

I hope not, the problem with world currencies is what happened in Greece. Greece uses the Euro now, the problem with that is that when Greece goes down economically, the Euro stays pretty much the same because many nations use it,leading to a incredibly low GDP (recession.) What's good about the US's dollar is that if the US goes down economically, the Fed and the Gov can issue expansionary monetary/fiscal policies to compensate for the economic hardship, Greece can't leading to all the BS they are experiencing over there. That being said, world currencies are stupid and so is the Eurozone.
