Today Will Be Different
Um it depends. Back when I purchased my HD PVR there was no real way of running it unless I purchased eyeTV which is a software made by Elgato since I was a Macintosh user. Since the demand for their software was at a high I guess they decided to manufacture their own capture card.

But I would say just get the HD PVR if you're using Windows, and if you're using Macintosh get the Elgato since it will be more native to that particular OS and vice versa.

Basically what Rath said. If on Windows, go with HDPVR2. If Mac, go with Elgato.

Hi I have an HD PVR 2 GE plus and have downloaded the new free Hauppauge capture application which is purely awesome. The link is You must login or register to view this content.

And today Hauppauge released their FREE Mac software for all HD PVR 2 GE Plus users.

So no question definitely go for the HD PVR 2 and if you want the MAC and optical 5.1 surround sound opt for the PLUS version.

Happy Birthday-)
