(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Alright guys, I know it's been a while since I've posted a thread. Long story short, I've been really busy with school and such but I have started wearing some raw denim and trying to be more fashionable, especially in preparation for college.

What is raw denim?

Most jeans sold are washed, sandblasted, faded etc. after the dying process. This makes them softer and gives them a worn in look. Raw denim on the other hand, is untouched after dying. This means no creases, no folds, no fades. Just a pair of jeans in its raw form after being dyed. Also, there is a difference in if/how much your denim will shrink. Sanforized denim is pre-stretched and reduces shrinkage by up to 1-5%. Unsanforized can shrink up to 10% of its sized. Many people prefer unsanforized as the denim because even more so a part of you.

What's the point of them?

For many, including myself, I've always preferred my jeans not to have rips, fades etc. in them as I felt that I wanted to make all of that happen myself in my own jeans. With raw denim, you are essentially getting a blank canvas. Most folks don't wash their jeans for at least 6 months (if at all). In this time, the jeans develop their own fades, rips, creases and folds. The jeans you get will look very different down the road, especially the rougher you are with them. Your phone will leave an imprint on the pocket over time, as will your wallet, as will that special coin or keychain you carry as well. Your jeans fit and form to you and essentially become a second skin.

Why don't people wash their jeans!?

If you're buying an unwashed pair of denim, washing them would essentially be the same as buying a pair of washed jeans from the local department store. Some people prefer not to wash them for a while, others wash their jeans whenever they start to smell funky. It's all up to you! After a few months, you'll really start to notice the changes starting to come into your denim.

Where can I buy them?

Raw denim isn't necessarily cheap. The cheapest you can probably find a pair now is $45 for a pair of Levi 501 Shrink to fits. Also, a lot of companies are popping up around the world specializing in specifically raw denim. A pair of raw denim can run you anywhere from $45 to $300+ . It's all about what you want and like.

I wear Levi 501s. I don't wash them, I get them dry cleaned after a month & buy a new pair the next month. I like that cardboard feel. :mmm:

wear raw denim jeans as much as you can and DO NOT WASH THEM. they will slightly fade in colour but it wont be the gay fade you dont like that shops supply. the jeans will also start to shape to your legs and will be more comfortable

edit: never read full thread but you said the same shit i did haha, thought you were askin for help with what to do with them

Did you read the thread ? Especially the part about what it is and why? Thread title is let's talk fashion - raw denim. It's a type of denim that is getting big lately. Similar to talking about music or games, this is the general discussion forum so I made a general discussion. That's why.

It's really starting to pick up now, a lot of people (from what I've seen) actually haven't heard of it. I figured the kids of NGU would have something fun and creative to do while promoting them to go outside more
