(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Do you play Pokemon? If you do are you excited for X and Y or do you think it will be a generation killer?

Today Will Be Different
Honestly I stopped playing Pokemon when Pokemon Diamond version came out. No offense to any diehard handheld Pokemon fans out there, but I think the series died off just before that and I don't mean that in a negative sense. Personally growing up I watched a ton of Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z because that was on after school and on Saturday mornings. Since the original series of Pokemon ended they ended up making spin off after spin off and so forth.

Now obviously the franchise is still going strong and it's probably where Nintendo makes the majority of their money from in sales. But as a fan of the original series and the original handheld Pokemon Red and Blue I just don't like the new things in the shows or games. Granted playing and watching the original series is nostalgic it only goes so far until it becomes depressing because so much has changed in the show. I mean I can't even talk to my nephew about Pokemon for two minutes until he brings up some game or character who I know nothing about.

With that said I don't think X and Y will kill the generation. The older generations made Pokemon a game that everyone had on their Gameboy and people still play them. So I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo remade them for Gen VI as a back up for the unthinkable... Gen VI dying because of X and Y.

But yeah... /rant.

I think it depends on where you started out in the series, my first game was Pokemon Emerald which I got when I was 8-9 and I stopped playing at around 11-12 when I had Diamond&Pearl (I still play it once in a while for nostalgia and stuff) so Emerald and Gen III as a whole has always been my favourite. People who have been a fan for much longer may have preferred Gen I or Gen II, I think each generation is as great as eachother but it depends on what feels the most nostalgic to people IMO :p

I think its retarded how much they have changed, i liked the good old pokemon, i played red, blue, leaf green, fire red, crystal, gold, emerald saphire, ruby diamond, and pearl. I stopped there because to much had changed for it to even be remotely fun.

I liked starting the game with squirtle, or with charmander, or bulbasaur, not the new shit where you start out the game as a garbage can or some lame shit.

I actually went and rewatched the good old movies,(mewtwo strikes back, and pokemon 2000) Both reminded me of my childhood, they made me actually quite happy to watch. I quit the show, when misty was gone. Brock is somehow still there if i remember correctly. i dont even know why, when i was little i loved the show, all the characters. I liked how misty and ash acted like they hated each other, and brock was an idiot around girls, and i liked the pokemon. I just wish they would not have changed so damn much.

I started with Pokemon Red Version; I watched the show up until the end of Generation 2 then I stopped watching it. The show was supposed to follow character Red but they instead made Ash.

As for the games, the older generations are fun and concrete but there is a lot of bugs and they follow the exact same mission. These new games do much more than that, they have a much more rich storyline, and they have a lot more to do. I'm actually a huge fan of these new games and am getting Pokemon Y. I bought a 3ds xl just for the Pokemon series, Zelda, and Mario series.

I do not think they are going to kill anything but rather introduce new ways to play Pokemon.

As for others, all generations have their ups and their downs. There is a lot of cool Pokemon in one generation but in others they suck. This is with all generations. To say, Gen 1 had the best and the new ones suck; if you look at the difference between them; there isn't a ton difference.
