(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I heard this from a vice video. The man talking had very broken English but he said this and it really stuck out to me.

If you can live your dream, if you can live your hobby, if you can make from your hobby your work, it is the best satisfaction you can have in life.

I know this isn't proper grammar but it is how he said it.

Since I am 16 it is time for me to start to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life so this quote really inspired me.

Today Will Be Different
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will…

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my rifle clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace! - Rifleman's Creed

Is that really said in boot camp? I know it from Full Metal Jacket obviously but do they really do it?
My buddies in the military I'll ask him.

It's breathtaking to consider:
You have two eyes, each composed of 130 million photoreceptor cells.
In each of those cells, there are 100 trillion atoms- that's more than all the stars in the Milky Way galaxy.
However, each atom in each cell in each eye formed in the core of a star, billions of years ago,
and yet,
here they are today, being utilized to capture the energy from that same process.
All to expand the consciousness of YOU.

The Universe has an interesting sense of irony, in that you are the universe experiencing itself.

And all you are is a thought.

No. That's the real Rifleman's creed. Don't ever say that it's from a movie.

But, my favorite quote is, "In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons." - Herodotus

Also, "You can't fix stupid." - some old guy at Walmart.

Damn that herodotus quote was great. But is the rifleman's creed actually said and memorized in the military? If so is it all branches or just the marines?

Recruits do have to learn it and most learn to recite it in bootcamp. But its only a Marine tradition, you've probably heard the doctrine "Every Marine a rifleman" since the focus is the infantry abilities of every Marine.
