Kendrick Lamar did not hold anything back on his latest verse off Big Sean’s “Control (HOF).” The TDE emcee took a huge step forward in claiming the “The Greatest of His Generation” title by telling several of his peers that the only ones in his league right now are rap veterans Jay Z, Nas, Eminem, and André 3000. He also caught people’s ear when he even claimed that he is “The King of New York.”

In what may be the verse of the year already K-Dot spits:

I’m usually homeboys with the same n*ggas I’m rhyming with
But this is Hip Hop and them n*ggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you n*ggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n*ggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n*ggas

Other rappers have came out with songs in response to Kendrick Lamar's verse, aswell as B.O.B making a how to rap video.

Heres the infamous song with the verse in it.

With that being said do you think this will change the rap game?

Yea Kendrick is sick, but people overreacted to this...

"I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you n*ggas"

Come on man, he contradicts himself hard with that line. It's almost like an apologetic retraction of his intentions, as if he's not fully committing to the call out. If you're gonna call people out, don't fucking sugar coat it. The songs dope, his verse is mad, but he cushioned the call out with that shit.

Keep it competitive its a sport I like Kendrick bring back the old hip-hop got to keep up or else you fall behind in this game now we got them rappers coming up trying to keep up there name in the game with these Kendrick lamar response songs seems we might go back in the old good days of hip-hop trying to keep up above everyone else in the game but we will see what they do in the coming years and hope we still get this vibe from Kendrick Lamar keeping the rap game changing.

Lyrically I'm not impressed, but I suppose the punch lines connect.

I think you kinda took it the wrong way he likes them as people all though he wants to murder them in the rap game. See what I mean its like say a sport Red Sox and Yankees are enemies they want to just murder the other team although as individual people most of them have respect and like each other except for some exceptions where they don't like each other. He's got love for them meaning he respects them and such but he wants to be the one on top.

Hopefully they all have a shoot out and nobody survives... and nothing of value was lost.

Climbing up the ladder
Kendrick wasn't dissing anyone, he was just saying he's trying to be the best. I'm a very big kendrick fan but i didn't think this was a super good verse, it was nice but not his best.

Many people probably haven't even heard Jay's verse on the song which was super good IMO

What got alot of peoples attention I think was when he said he was the king of New York and he is from the West Side which is what Tupac was the king of New York and West Side since he moved from New York to the west coast but he also said he was the offspring of Makaveli what Tupac's stage name so he was saying he is the next Tupac nothing wrong with that but for other rappers thats like saying he is the best in the game.
