Post: 'Duck Dynasty' star Phil Robertson suspended by A&E

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Personally I think this is bullshit, and so they take Phil Robertson off Duck Dynasty for talking about homosexuality. Why haven't they taken off most music, it's worse than what Phil said. Such bullshit that they would do that to him. Hopefully the Robertson family goes and whips some ass.

"Duck Dynasty" dad Phil Robertson has been placed on indefinite suspension by the A&E Network following his recent comments on homosexuality, the network announced Wednesday night.

"We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty," the network said in a statement.

"His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely."

Earlier Wednesday, Roberston had responded to critics who had slammed him for very graphic statements he made about his preference for heterosexual sex over homosexual sex.

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior,” he said in a statement sent to FOX411.

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.

"However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

In a wide-ranging interview with GQ, Robertson didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts about homosexuality and sinning.

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong... Sin becomes fine,” he said. “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

Paraphrasing Corinthians he added: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

The gay and lesbian rights group GLAAD was quick to criticize Robertson for his comments and called on A&E to take action.

"Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil's lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe," said GLAAD rep Wilson Cruz. "He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans – and Americans - who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil's decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families."

Robertson also told GQ his family has lost its privacy since they were thrust into the limelight as the stars of the hit show, but it was well worth it because the series has given him a platform to spread his religious beliefs.

“For the sake of the Gospel, it was worth it… All you have to do is look at any society where there is no Jesus. I’ll give you four: Nazis, no Jesus. Look at their record. Uh, Shintos? They started this thing in Pearl Harbor. Any Jesus among them? None. Communists? None. Islamists? Zero. That’s 80 years of ideologies that have popped up where no Jesus was allowed among those four groups. Just look at the records as far as murder goes among those four groups.”

Still, he doesn’t expect his fame to last forever.

“Let’s face it, three, four, five years, we’re out of here. You know what I’m saying? It’s a TV show. This thing ain’t gonna last forever. No way.”

And he may be right. Back in 2007, A&E halted production "Dog the Bounty Hunter" when it was revealed that Duane Chapman had used racial slurs. The series returned after several months but was later canceled.

The Twitterverse quickly reacted to Robertson's comments, with social media users both slamming and praising the TV star.

What I love is that Phil was just expressing his own view on this issue. He had legitimate reasonings and beliefs, just because it's not what people want to hear doesn't mean that Phil should have to do his interview while reading off a script.

Not the point, I'm an atheist and what Phil says shouldn't of had him taken off tv. They have fucking church channels that do nothing but preach and why aren't they off tv?

It makes the channel he works for look bad.

I'm a Christian and I don't support gay marriages, but I'm accepting either way no matter who you are or who you love, as long as you're not an extremist in any way and try to shove your beliefs down everyones throats.

What he said may or may not be offensive depending on your beliefs, but we need to keep in mind America is becoming very pro-homosexual, especially the media, so of course they're going to take action against it.

I like how no one is talking about A&E's rights in this. I mean the crazy, fundamentalist Christians who are all up in arms about this are the crazy conservatives that believe corporations are people too. So with that being said it is well within the companies rights to suspend or fire for something like this. It is the companies freedom of speech and expression to can someone for a conflict in interest like this for speaking hate. If you owned a company, would you like a worker spewing hate while under your coattails? I think not.
